J.J Threads: London Town

Hi all,

Whilst doing pickups for our feature film "Run Away With Me" Jay Wich, a friend and client of ours rang up asking if we were available to do a photo shoot for his clothing line "J.J Threads".

Since we had the Epic at hand for the weekend and managed to get all the shots we needed in a day it would be foolish not to use what I'd call without hyperbole a damn near dream camera.

So we grabbed Kye who plays Abraham, the protagonist in our film and cast Anna as his love interest. Mark Evans, our fantastic producer also brought our makeup artist Galatia Savva and A.C James Leckey from "Run Away With Me" onboard.

Based on a loose treatment about a brief love affair in the city we set off to do a day of guerilla shooting across London.

Enjoy :)

Now as a treat for those of you who would love to get your hands on the camera we have the next best thing for you...original R3D files from the camera!

DOWNLOAD LINK

In order to view and play around with the footage you need to download RedcineX which is available freely from  www.red.com/support

One of the many great things about the Epic (which we'll go into later) is that it shoots at 5K resolution at up to 96 frames per second (as of 17/05/11, free firmware updates from RED means that the camera has added features over time)

This meant that we could extract stills from the shoot and use them as well with no compromise in terms of image quality. Here are a few examples. Note that the grain and softness was introduced in post production. Even at ISO1600 this camera produces super clean images.

At KINOTRIGGER we're about ot embark on a Stereo 3D shoot over the coming weeks so stay tuned for more news on that, our in depth impressions about the RED Epic-M and our latest feature film "Run Away With Me"

Also a special thanks goes out to Johnny Johnson at The Post Factory for the Epic-M rental. If you need to rent an Epic-M, Red One MX or Alexa package in the UK give them a call or VISIT THEIR WEBSITE

KINO out.
